Brick, Vinyl, or Stucco: How Jacksonville’s Climate Affects Each Differently

The same humidity hits every material, but each one shows buildup, and needs cleaning, in its own way.

Brick

Brick’s porous surface holds onto moisture and can develop a mossy or algae-covered look over time, particularly in shaded areas. It generally tolerates moderate pressure but still benefits from a soft-wash approach to avoid damaging mortar joints.

Vinyl

Vinyl is more pressure-tolerant than most materials but is vulnerable to water forced behind panels at the wrong angle, and can discolor with the wrong cleaning solution over repeated use.

Stucco

Stucco’s textured surface gives algae and mold more surface area to grip, and its more delicate finish generally calls for the lowest pressure and most careful technique of the three.
